As 2020 comes to a close, we are sad to say goodbye to our longest serving Board member, Toni Lawrence. Toni has served on and off of the Big Sister League Board of Directors since 1993. She has served every officer position from President to Secretary, and finishes her tenure at BSL as Treasurer, a position she has held for the past 5 years. She also served as one of two food bank shoppers for about 7 years as well.
As Toni steps down from the board after several years of service, she helped implement valuable organizational changes during her tenure. "There aren’t many nonprofit organizations who have been active in San Diego for 78 years, and I am grateful for the affiliation I’ve had with the League and especially the opportunity to know and work with so many dedicated individuals who believe in the mission,” Ms. Lawrence stated. “While I’m retiring from the Board, I will always support the organization and the women the Big Sister League serves.”
Toni has been a tremendous asset to BSL. Her passion, energy, and intelligence are put into every project or initiative she is part of. She has been a positive role model for all of us on the BSL Board. From grocery shopping for our residents, to preparing annual financial statements, to serving on our Executive Committee, and being our HUD expert, Toni is a true treasure to BSL. Her hard work and expertise will be dearly missed.
We thank Toni for all of her help over the years and we truly value her friendship with the Board. Although she is no longer a board member, we know that she is only one quick phone call away. And we will be calling.
Good luck Toni on your new adventures!
