Sami Rogers has been with the Big Sister League since September of 2020 and has been serving as the Program Coordinator since November. Her responsibilities here at the League include community outreach, the coordination of schedules and activities for residents, and overseeing safety guidelines for both residencies. One of Sami’s goals is to provide a secure and comfortable, yet encouraging environment for her residents to learn, grow, and prosper in.
Although this is her first role in the non-profit sector, Sami has always felt compelled to enter the workforce that caters to those who are socioeconomically disadvantaged. She has also first handedly seen the profound impact that transitional living facilities have made in the lives of women who are close to her.
Sami, a native to San Diego county, grew up in the small town of Ramona with big dreams of helping others. Eager to get out and experience the world, she received a BS in Health Science at CSU Long Beach, with an emphasis on community health education. Sami believes that lifelong learning and promoting diversity are essential to tackling disparities.
When she is not dedicating her time to a life of service, Sami can be found listening to live music or soaking up the San Diego sun in whichever way she can!
